Books by Lisan Arabi
This book was mainly designed to help teachers and students of Arabic with the following areas:
- Items of vocabulary
- Simple structures (word relation)
- Fluency & Fluency
- Quizzes for extra activities
The book introduces more than 200 compound nouns, that is more than 400 items of vocabulary. These items represent everyday objects and expressions. The book includes four sections:
A- Multiple choice questions of 4 compound nouns and an image. The learners choose the right noun depending on the image. At this stage, it is recommended that teachers help the students check the first few correct answers. In the next pages, it is the learners who should figure out the right answers. The quizzes are designed in a way that most words are repeated as one correct answer and three distractors. The distractors are distributed in a way that the students will learn them before they become the correct answer they should choose.
B- The previous Multiple-choice questions are reintroduced with a slight variation. The first component is provided, and the students have to choose the second component depending on the image provided. The order of the questions is not the same as the order of the previous ones to make this section more challenging. This section of the book is designed to enhance spelling by asking the student to write the word required.
C- In this section of the book, the exercises are more challenging and involve more writing. Each set includes six nouns for the students to combine and make three compound nouns to match the three images provided. Then, the students write the nouns they make.
D- In this section, simple crossword puzzles are provided to cover all the compound nouns learned. The students look at the relevant image and write the missing component of the compound noun in the blank. Then they break it down into letters to complete the grid according to the given numbers. In this activity, the student has to depend solely on their memory to the missing components as no options provided except an image. The two main cases of noun relations: Iđafa and Nisbah are fully explained. It is recommended that teachers/students start with the first section of the book before they move on to the exercise sections. After they have had an idea about how compound nouns are made, the students will find the exercises easy and fun to do. Teachers can expand the exercises by asking students to decide, for instance, whether the given compound noun is made by means of nisbah or iđafa. Or they can ask the students to say what relation is linking the two nouns. Learning these compound nouns will enhance the student’s memory and thus their fluency. They will learn how two say two words together as one. This skill will take their fluency to a whole new level at ease while they are learning new items of vocabulary and doing the exercises through which the previously introduced nouns reoccur frequently. For accuracy, compound nouns are more specific than common nouns.
Not only does learning these 200 compound nouns enrich the student’s vocabulary but also it brushes up their accuracy. The book layout is formatted and designed to serve as photocopiable worksheets that can be used separately or individually. Teachers can use these worksheets as a complementary activity in the beginning or end of lessons. They can also be used for homework and revision. They can also be for group and individual activities. However, these worksheets are not to be used for commercial purposes as they are copyrighted. Autodidacts can use the book as an entertainment book to do the quizzes at their free time to enrich their vocabulary or refresh their memories. The book is available on Amazon!

The first of the series (The Arabic Alphabet) starts with introducing the Arabic alphabet as it has never been introduced before. The letters are introduced as sounds, shapes and minimal grammar unites in the language. All in all, once the students have finished this level, they will become able to read and understand some of the word grammatical structures that make Arabic sound a difficult language to learn. Arabic for All tries ‘to help students catch fish and provide them with fish everyday.’ It is about nurturing the knowledge rather than only providing it.
Arabic for All, is designed to reinforce and improve reading and listening skills which can improve the rest of skills, writing and speaking. Reading enables the student to read simple signs, do simple quizzes, read books and newspapers, browse Arabic websites and read the Quran for those who study Arabic for religious purposes. This book is designed to introduce Arabic Alphabet to learners of All ages. The book is in two parts: The Student’s Book and the Activity Book. The Student’s Book includes the basic lessons with reinforcing exercises and wordlists. The Activity Book includes the reading and writing activities which reinforce the material learnt in the first book. The objective of dividing this work into two books is to make it easier for learners, especially the young ones. To cover all alphabet items and provide sufficient and variant exercises is somehow unachievable within one book as it will become a bulky book; heavy to carry and handle. The work is divided in a way that it can be used easily and practically. The Student’s Book can be used to learn how to read and to learn new vocabulary items. The Activity Book is to learn writing and reinforce the vocabulary items through various quizzes and exercises. Every word in the book is illustrated with an image to link the visual memory of the meaning to the written form of the word. Each chapter is entailed with a word list. The list includes all the words in the chapter.
The words are presented in three aspects: Arabic, English, and Visual.
Although it is illustrated in a way that the book seems for children, the book can be practically used by adult learners to learn the alphabet, how to read and build up their vocabulary.
The book is originally aimed to introduce Arabic Alphabet to speakers of other languages. However, because it uses English as the main medium to introduce Arabic, the book can be used to increase the English vocabulary of Arab children who are using the book to learn Arabic. Therefore, the book can be used by primary schools in non-Arabic speaking countries or international schools in Arab countries to teach early years pupils. The Student’s Book includes 8 chapters. Each of these chapters includes the following sections:
- Letters and Words
